De cómo una de las canciones más conocidas de Céline Dion tiene su origen unos años antes de la mano de un grupo del que probablemente no hayas oído hablar .
Corría 1996 cuando Céline Dion publicaba Falling Into You, su cuarto álbum de estudio en inglés. Después del sencillo que daba título al álbum y su archiconocido «Because You Loved Me», llegaba «It’s All Coming Back to Me Now» que seguía la estela del anterior. La versión original duraba 7′ 37″ mientras que la edición para radio se reducía a 5′ 31″.
Aclamada por la crítica, que alababa sobre todo su capacidad interpretativa, los resultados en las listas de éxito no se hicieron esperar. Fue número 1 en Bélgica, Canadá y algunas listas de EE. UU. En este país llegó al número 2 del Billboard Hot 100 y vendió más de 2 millones de copias consiguiendo la certificación de doble platino.
En Reino Unido llegó al número 3 del UK Singles Chart y consiguió ser también platino tras vender más de 600 000.
A día de hoy seguimos escuchándola y es que es una de las canciones insignia de la canadiense. Sin embargo, lo que vengo a contarte hoy es que esta canción no es inédita. Su compositor se trata de Jim Steinman (autor entre otros de «Total Eclipse of the Heart» de Bonnie Tyler), que a mediados de los 80 se propuso crear la canción más romántica y pasional jamás escuchada. Se inspiró de hecho en un fragmento de Cumbres Borrascosas para la composición.
Aunque al principio Meat Loaf intentó grabarla en distintas ocasiones, Steinman decidió reservarla para una voz femenina. Ya en 1989 decidió decantarse por un grupo de mujeres que reunió para el grupo Pandora Box y junto al que produjo el álbum conceptual Original Sin.
De este álbum se extrajo el «It’s All Coming Back to Me Now» primigenio.
Llegó al puesto 51 del UK Singles Chart. Una vez después de la publicación del álbum el grupo se disolvía.
Años después, Céline se enamoraría totalmente de esta canción y decidiría reinterpretarla en la que versión que todos conocemos.
Sin embargo, no todo quedó ahí y es que el ya mencionado Meat Loaf tuvo finalmente la oportunidad de realizar su propia versión a dúo junto a la noruega Marion Ravn en 2006.
Llegaban al número 6 del UK Singles Chart, además de las listas de éxito de varios países europeos.
15 años después, solo necesitamos comparar las escuchas de las tres versiones para darnos cuenta de que, una vez más, la versión original es una gran desconocida.
